Joe Cannata has been working on victim issues since 1987 when his daughter, Lynn Cannata, was murdered by her boyfriend. He has been instrumental in having five victim rights laws passed including “Lynn’s Law “ in 2004 (named after his daughter) which requires violent offenders to serve 75% of their sentence before being eligible for parole. Joe and his wife, Kaye, sold their dry cleaning business of 31 years, in 2007, to devote 100% of their time to their newly formed non-profit organization, Voices Of Victims, which offers post-sentencing support and advocacy to victims of violent crime.
