Domestic Relations and Civil Protection Orders – New Best Practices

  • This workshop will address the new legislation in the areas of civil protection orders and domestic relations, including changes to statute C.R.S. 14-10-124. We will analyze the statutory language, discuss new best practices, and host a round-table discussion. The round-table discussion will address application of the new legislation across Colorado, how this legislation is best being used to support survivors of domestic violence, and new obstacles practitioner are facing.

    The workshop will also provide practical tips about how to prepare for hearings under the new legislation, including witness preparation, use of exhibits, and hearing strategy.  Suggested reading and additional resources will also be provided.
