Community Based Violence Prevention ‘Connecting the Dots’ to Address Multiple Types of Violence

  • Violence is complex. Understanding the multiple and overlapping causes of violence is an important part of prevention.   Traditionally, prevention efforts target a specific area of violence. By addressing causes of violence, violence in all its forms can be prevented. This presentation will explore the lessons learned of a community based violence prevention initiative, the role of public health in prevention, and how “connecting the dots” of risk and protective factors can help prevent violence.
