- Presentation speakers
Community-based advocates often face challenges in knowing how to be effective in supporting survivors through criminal proceedings. This often results in advocates feeling just as lost and confused as survivors as they navigate through the complexities of the justice system. This presentation will address how advocates can effectively support survivors and respond to the diverse needs of survivors in the courtroom by understanding the players and their roles, how to navigate confidentiality while building relationships, understanding the Victim Rights Amendment, how to assist a survivor in enforcing their rights throughout the process. Finally, this presentation will provide ideas and solutions for community based advocates on how to effectively respond when issues may arise in the courtroom.
