Trauma is a neurophysiological state stemming from a neurobiological injury, therefore treatment must address both. Research indicates trauma-sensitive yoga (TSY) as a promising adjunct therapy to address the cognitive/emotional and physical symptoms associated with chronic trauma. Ultimately, whether designed for a class or integrated in therapy practice, TSY principles give survivors of diverse backgrounds the opportunity to remain in the present, notice and tolerate inner experiences, and cultivate a new with relationship with their body.
