An Introduction to Working with Urban American Indian and Alaska Native Families and Victims

  • This session will provide an in-depth look at the impact of historical trauma on American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. We will also discuss the unique needs and challenges of urban AI/AN individuals and explore the Denver Indian Family Resource Center’s service delivery model that has proven successful in preserving and reunifying AI/AN families that are at risk of or currently involved with the child welfare system. Attendees can expect to have a better understanding as to how to work with the urban AI/AN community.
